I’m excited to find a home for my blog writing on Medium. I have written on many platforms over the years starting with AOL in the late 90’s. When Medium first started, I was writing on WordPress and Blogger. I wish I would have paid more attention when I first heard of this platform for passionate writers and voracious readers, but no worries, I’m here now with you!
I love Medium’s clean design with no annoying pop-ups or banner ads. …
How to tell if you are on the right track with your career and life.
Powerball and Mega Millions both have a jackpot of over a half-billion dollars! I love when the jackpot gets this high because more people dare to dream big, including me.
Although the odds of winning the jackpot are higher than getting struck by lightning, it’s fun to think about all the things you would do if you won a big stack of money.
The Powerball website has a slide-scale that shows you how tall a stack of $100 bills would reach based on the estimated jackpot. The current jackpot bills would be about the height of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. That makes me curious to go see that skyscraper. Ok, I’m adding it to my list of places to go if I win the lottery! I love going to places I’ve never been before. How about you? …
I get daily emails from Rat Race Rebellion which is an aggregate website for online, work-at-home jobs.
Today I got an email with a catchy headline:
“Get paid to review books, up to $100 per review”
My first thought was where do I sign up?! I love to read and write, so it should be a breeze, right?
My second thought was wait a minute, it says “up to”… The devil is in the details!
I went ahead and took the bait. Clicked the link. Ah, the cookies and algorithms love me now.
Sure enough, there were some caveats: No byline, you give up all rights to your review that can be repurposed in perpetuity, $5-$50 is closer to the pay, if your review is accepted. But hey, you get a free copy of the book to review. …
A vegan story and challenge that may save your life or someone you love.
One day at work, I felt a mild pain in my lower left abdomen. I thought it was menstrual cramps and took some Midol. I often got cramps before I started my period, so I didn’t think much of it. The pain eased a little, but a few hours later, the “cramps” were back.
Every day the pain intensified. I became very sick and couldn’t even get out of bed other than to go to the bathroom with vomiting and diarrhea.
I am very stubborn when it comes to going to the doctor. But when my husband realized I wasn’t getting better, he insisted I go to the hospital. …
Someone from the other side of the world messaged me yesterday in disbelief of what was happening on my side in the USA.
I had to admit I didn’t know much about the situation because I don’t watch the news and hadn’t been on social media all day because I was doing year end taxes, which requires complete focus for my brain to not be distracted or want to procrastinate.
Earlier in the day my daughter got a message asking for prayers for America, NOW. I heard my son-in-law say something about protestors in DC. …
Achieve Your Goals and Make 2021 Your Best Year Ever
Do you feel that collective sigh of relief that 2020 is behind us and a renewed energy for the year ahead? I do!
Have you created any new year resolutions? Or have you been so disappointed that you think it’s not worthwhile?
For many years, my resolutions were history by day two.
My new year resolution list used to look something like this: Lose weight, make more money, travel, get a new car, etc.
Then I learned about SMART goals which helped, but something was still missing. …
What’s your dream? I love asking that question of others and myself. I used to dream of being a singer, but never pursued it. Still, I love music. I listen to it every day, especially when insomnia strikes. I look up music videos in the middle of the night when I can’t sleep or feel alone. Music calms me, drowns out the noise in my head, and inspires my poetry.
Music calms me, drowns out the noise in my head, and inspires my poetry.
During one of my midnight music marathons, I ran across a video of Queen performing with a singer I wasn’t familiar with, Adam Lambert. I can’t remember the last time I got chills watching a music video. …
Do we really learn from others’ mistakes and life lessons?
You can get most things you want in life. It’s just that most goals will take one or two years longer than expected. Be patient. — Tai Lopez
This morning I received an email from one of my mentors, internet marketing sensation Tai Lopez, and it inspired me to write about a few of my life experiences in an effort to help aspiring writers and budding entrepreneurs on their journey. …
