Happy National Book Lovers Day!
Rather than use a stock photo, I wanted to use a photo to promote a local book fair I am co-hosting. If you have never been to the James Dean Festival, it is worth the trip! A group of indie authors are getting together to make sure our fellow book lovers don’t go away empty-handed.
But that’s not what I’m writing about today. I want to highlight a few books I have found through Medium’s Verified Book Author program. Thanks to Tony Stubblebine and the Medium Team for creating this fantastic feature for authors and book lovers!
First up is Catherine Sanderson. She is a psychology professor and has published many books on the subject. The one that caught my attention is The Positive Shift: Mastering Mindset to Improve Happiness, Health, and Longevity.
The power of the mind has always fascinated me. How do some people rise above their circumstances to live a happy, healthy life, and others remain victims? Mindset plays a vital role. Catherine shows us the science behind mindset and helps us learn how to develop a positive shift for our happiness, health, and longevity. If you are into personal growth, I highly recommend reading The Positive Shift.
The first time I read Nir Eyal’s Indistractable, I deleted all social media apps and set a timer to get up and move every half hour. I added the apps back on my phone in less than a month and have spent more hours than I care to admit being sedentary in the name of productivity. I guess that means it’s time to read this book again!
