This post was inspired by Flavio Musa de Freitas Guimarães’ story about wondering how to make money on Medium when he doesn’t yet qualify for the Partner Program.

If you don’t yet qualify for Medium’s Partner Program, don’t despair. There are still plenty of ways to monetize your blog!

Ko-fi

Many writers on Medium use Ko-fi, even writers already in the Partner Program, including Shannon Ashley, who has over 50K followers, and one of my favorite writers on The Riff, Kevin Alexander.

Ko-fi is a platform designed for creators to accept donations, aka tips, from their fans. It took me about ten minutes to set up my account and connect it to Paypal and Stripe.

  • Speaking of Paypal and Stripe. You can also create a donation button connected to those accounts.

You could set up a link to your preferred payment processor. If you are unsure how to do it, just search on YouTube. There is a how-to video for nearly everything.

Gumroad

You could create a book from your blog posts on a specific topic and sell it on Gumroad. You can sell just about anything on their platform.

I sell everything from affirmations to ebooks and Indie Authors Association memberships.

Jari Roomer is selling his book, The Medium Formula on Gumroad. He is also offering coaching services to help Medium writers. Brilliant.
