Turn Your Wounds Into Wisdom
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS — SCARS: A Healing Anthology Poetry Book
I fell off of Jennifer Burke Grehan’s August writing prompt challenge thanks to catching the flu or whatever bug it was that put me out of commission for the past few weeks. Thankfully, I am feeling better and back to my writing routine.
I planned on using Jennifer’s writing prompt about wounds to talk about a project I am working on with Stacy Savage — a poet who also loves to write poetry for a good cause.
Jennifer’s writing prompt was a quote from Oprah Winfrey: “Turn your wounds into wisdom.”

Turning wounds into wisdom is exactly what SCARS — A Healing Anthology is about.
Stacy and I have both experienced deep wounds, but we refuse to let our sad stories define us. We are committed to using the lessons from our experiences for the greater good. We use cathartic writing to heal our wounds and help those in need.
YOU are invited to join us on our healing journey.
Write and submit a poem or short story for SCARS — A Healing Anthology. The poem or story can be on any topic about overcoming trauma, healing, and mental health.
The proceeds from the SCARS poetry book will be donated to mental health organizations such as NAMI — National Alliance on Mental Illness and 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
SCARS — A Healing Anthology will be published May 2023. May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
December 31, 2022 is the deadline for submissions to SCARS — A Healing Anthology. You may submit up to three poems and/or short stories. Visit scarspoetrybook.com for the entry form and additional info.
